Spartacus: Restored Edition (1960) Blu Ray Review and Unboxing

Taking a look at the packaging while reviewing the Restored Edition of Stanley Kubrick's Spartacus on Blu-ray.

This remastered edition contains exclusive bonus material such as I am Spartacus, a conversation with actor Kirk Douglas and also Restoring Spartacus, which talks about the painstaking process of restoring the movie from 35mm original film elements. This edition also includes Digital HD, and it doesn't come with a DVD.

In 73 BCE, a Thracian slave leads a revolt at a gladiatorial school run by Lentulus Batiatus. The uprising soon spreads across the Italian Peninsula involving thousand of slaves. The plan is to acquire sufficient funds to acquire ships from Silesian pirates who could then transport them to other lands from Brandisium in the south. The Roman Senator Gracchus schemes to have Marcus Publius Glabrus, Commander of the garrison of Rome, lead an army against the slaves who are living on Vesuvius. When Glabrus is defeated his mentor, Senator and General Marcus Licinius Crassus is greatly embarrassed and leads his own army against the slaves. Spartacus and the thousands of freed slaves successfully make their way to Brandisium only to find that the Silesians have abandoned them. They then turn north and must face the might of Rome.

Heard it got amazing reviews online. Im going to check best buy to see if this is available in store. Plus a slipcover nice! Love those epic old time films!

Wow, just found out about this from Amazon. you mean they actually restored Spartacus again but this time did the restoration job properly this time! Unlike the 2010 version which was terribly done and the 'skin tones' were all off. So glad to know even after a year they restored this movie and it got the previous extras plus new interviews and whatnot!

And i take it, the film on this new Blu-ray release still has the audio clip of 'Gracchus death scene' from the Criterion DVD right?! Think i know what i'm getting for Christmas or the New Year or so.

cant wait to get this its strange though i pre ordered from zavvi there steelbook version of this and it ment to come out today in uk but mines never appeared hope it comes tomorrow i cant wait to see the new remastered version i have seen screenshot comparisons and they look much better
