CC Webster is a Hodgkin's Lymphoma Survivor. This is her story.

She was 29 when she was diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkin lymphoma. She underwent 12 cycles of the ABVD chemotherapy regimen. Here she laundry lists the side effects and describes what helped her recover or prevent them.

_____

Background:

The Patient Story turns in-depth interviews from recent cancer survivors into a FAQ format-story along with timelines to give newly diagnosed patients and caregivers a sense of what their lives may look like in the upcoming months. Hear straight from the people who've already been through it.

_____

A message from our founder:

My name is Stephanie.

In 2013, I found a story that touched my heart: a group of friends were fighting to raise awareness about bone marrow donations for a young woman who'd been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. It had spread to her brain.

Nina was in dire need of a bone marrow transplant. She's of Asian descent, which narrowed her odds of finding a match (fewer people of the same race and ethnicity registered to donate).

The good news: she found a donor! The wife and mother of two is living happily. I couldn't be happier.
The "odd" news: I was diagnosed with the same cancer, same sub-type just three years later.

That motivated me to create The Patient Story: a company to help cancer patients and caregivers by giving them real answers from real people - people who've actually been through the experience.

Diagnosed at 24 and went with 6 cycles of ABVD and radiation. Now i'm 26. Just had my ct scan and check up yesterday and found out that it came back. I'll be having my chemo again next week with stronger medicines. 😔 Hope everything will go well. 🙏

Had my first advb chemo yesterday for Hodgkin's lymphoma, i get 3 hours every 2 weeks for 4 months then another pet scan to see how im going, im early stage 2A highly favourable and no symptoms so its looking good for me, dont feel to bad and the drugs they give to help with side efects have improved, i still feel a little yuk but thats understandable after a treatment, im sleeping and eating fine and keeping a positive mindset, ive got this✌️im about to turn 44 years old and have lymphocyte rich classic hodgkin's lymphoma it's the most treatable of of the four different subtypes, only 5% of patients get this

Diagnosed April 2020 and started chemo June 2020. I just finished treatment 11 last week with 1 more to go on the 22 of this month, December. This has been one hell of a ride! Found out after a petscan in August 2020 that I'm in remission.

its been a while since I looked back at my experience with lymphoma (about 6 years). I remember these feelings. I really hope the quality of the medication is better in terms of side effects. I wish this for younger patients who may find it much more challenging to deal with it. I am glad you shared your experience. I felt a lot of the same stuff.

My boyfriend is 25 and has been trying for over a year to get a lymphoma diagnosis. Grapefruit sized lymph nodes on neck and nobody can give him answers. Just got a pet scan. It doesn't look good. Thank you for this video, it'll help me prepare to help him.

Thank you for this video. My husband might have lymphoma. He's still undergoing tests. We'll know soon. I took notes of what you said.

I highly recommend water fasting during chemo treatments. I hardly ever hear about it outside of fasting cycles. But it really does help tremendously in reducing side effects and stressing cancer cells. Its much easier than it sounds too

Your story is similar to the symptoms I've been getting, diagnosed in December 2018 with low grade non hodgkin lymphoma I started my chemo in January 2019 getting my infusion every 3 weeks and I had 8 sessions of chemo which finished in August and now I'm getting maintenance treatment every 8 weeks for next 2 years, biggest problem I've had is the fatigue and hearing you say brushing your teeth could cause you so much fatigue, well I've been getting the same symptoms and even making the bed was a effort, during my chemo I didn't suffer from any nausea but lately I've been getting sick just driving to the shops, hope your keeping well now, I have stage 4 follicular lymphoma
