6 Reasons The Reynolds Pamphlet Is The Best Scene In Hamilton

I have strong feelings on the matter.

This'll be my last Hamilton video of this sort, I really don't want to deal with the Disney gods smiting me, or having another long video trimmed down to 5% of the original video, so I just quickly finished this. It was incredibly self indulgent. I edited it differently so maybe it'll go better this time? but I think the issue with the other one was just it's reach.

One last time, I do not own these clips, all rights belong to Disney.

I wonder how many times Lin broke and laughed at all the ensemble’s shenanigans

the choreographer just said “have fun, mock Hamilton, go wild.” And the Groff said “wait this sounds fun can I join” and the choreographer turned around to see his ensemble doing THAT and said, “sure”

It’s almost like the choreographer was like “Idk just do whatever the hell you want it’ll look good I promise”

Maria is chilling in the back like: “I can’t help but feel like I did something”

this has the same energy as those ads for medicines where the people in the back are partying and living their best lives and the voiceover is like “may cause death, strokes, severe bleeding, complete organ failure. . .”

A few little details I love:
- that Maria is actually the one who hands him the pen to start writing
- Hamilton reciting the pamphlet from on top of the table
- the way Phillip enters and exits and the look he gives his dad
- that look that Maria and Hamilton share
- Washingtons look of disappointment
- Thayne during the birds eye view
- the fact that they give Alex a pamphlet
- the way the ensemble just starts spazzing

The expressions at 0:23 "his poor wife" are amazing. Madison looks genuinely sympathetic, Burr is like "oof" and Jefferson is like "yikes."

The ensemble is the embodiment of the Oompa Loompas after a kid dies and I love it.

The reynolds pamphlet is so good, and the dancing of everyone mocking hamilton and picking up the papers are absolutely chaotic

I just noticed- Lin standing there all quiet and cautious while around everything is pure chaos reminds me of a hurricane- Alex in the eye of the hurricane, the center of the chaos and everything around just being chaotic. I don’t know if it was the real intention of Lin to put it like this but if it was then damn he did a great job

Basically Lins instructions for this scene was “go ape sh*t crazy while I stand there being harassed” 😂

And Hamilton has to stand there looking depressed while everyone is twerking and throwing it back all over the stage.

Reason 7: everyone makes sure all paper is picked up before Eliza takes the stage for Burn.
Reason 8: Lin-Manuel resists the urge to join in the dancing fun.
