I've seen a real life explosive barrel.

I work next to a gas station, and I travel over there almost every day for a drink and snack. Normally there a couple black waste barrels out front, but one day, a red barrel was there. Sure enough, it had the "No Flames" icon on it. "My god..." I uttered to myself, "They're real..."

I find it funny that modern barrels don't even need the "flammable" or "danger" signage anymore.
We're so used to the idea of red barrel = explosion that it's become an instinct.
