He sipped his latte and looked out the window. The city was busy as usual, but he felt detached from it all. He remembered the days when he used to patrol the streets, fighting crime and injustice. He remembered his allies and enemies, his triumphs and tragedies. He wondered what they were doing now, if they were still alive or not.

He felt a pang of nostalgia and sadness, mixed with relief and gratitude.
