The more I listen the more I love this work. Walton was a giant of. 20th c orchestral music yet is so often overlooked. IMO his 1st symphony, violin concerto and viola concerto are the equal of anything by more famous composers.

Paul Neubaur has the best Walton viola concerto recording

This is an absolutely first rate performance by both soloist and orchestra.

Beautiful! Wonderful rich vibrato! There's not enough good recordings of this piece. Well played!

No one can play the second movement in tone except Paul

Compare this with the eerily similar, Prokovieff first violin concerto of 1910-1915.

I’m intrigued by this painting, is there any information on it?
