The National Museum of African American History and Culture takes center stage this Thursday, January 12 at 9 a.m. EST / 8 p.m. CST on ABC Television Networks, Taking the Stage: African American Music and Stories that Changed America. This two-hour celebration highlights the museum's Grand Opening.

Filmed live at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the showcase features music, dance and dramatic readings by a wide range of stage and screen actors. Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, and Tom Hanks are among the many artists who participated in the program, which includes a special salute to the Tuskegee Airmen.
