Excellent. I use similar techniques in architectural construction dox. So, primary concern, make a Sketchup template w the desired scenes, then always place the model w the same relationship to the axes. This is the foundation for a system like this. No fussing w view ports in Layout when your Sketchup model began oriented correctly. That has greatly improved my documentation workflow.

Very good suggestions. It demonstrates that good planning: organization of content, consistency in naming of scenes (... and don't forget layers too) ahead of time can result in lower production costs, improved turn-around times, and quality output.

I actually said "BOOM!" as Aaron relinked the model and the second one showed up in place. Nice hack. Very useful too. I'll remember to try it out.

That’s probably something I should have know. 👍🏼 I really appreciate the way these videos help explain in the nuance of how the program works so I can become more productive.

You should have mentioned how Send to Layout works in Sketchup. If you pick the template, it will use the current Sketchup file from which you sent the model. This is closer to my workflow where I would select a Sketchup template, complete a new model, then Send to Layout and select my template. It’s much faster that way.

Nice and informative tutorial. You are a great tutor Aaron. Can you make a video about how to use outliner efficiently?

Can I add an additional third (or forth…) page of scrapbook connection details that I "save as" with the original template file?
When I reference a new different drawing the views are the same as template but the details are common with both files.

The drawings change from job to job but the scrapbook connection details remain the same on every job. I prefer to have the connection details already on the page when I select the template.
Thanks,

Great video Aaron. The synergy I desire between SU and CAD is getting closer by the day. That is, many procedures you described have been done in CAD for years. Thus, my feeble brain can make sense of it. However, can you point me to decent resources on the use of Layout (how to use it)? Granted, V19 introduced the new tutorial videos. I haven't had a chance to check them out. But, if those are only available via subscription, I may not see them at this current time. Thanks!

Interesting. At around 8 minutes, when the model reference is changed, only the thumbnail for page 1 is updated (bottom right). Is seems that the second page is actually updated, but not the thumbnail. Would it be updated on save and open?

Hello. I'm currently having some issues when working with LO.. like after i changed the Stroke thickness, the Fill and Pattern button won't select and.. some keyboard shortcuts such as Esc, delete, ctrl+c, etc2 will stop working as well. I Really wonder if anyone ever encountered this. I've tried this on 3 PCs and all gave the same issue regardless of the versions. I have tried it on LO 15, 17, 18, 19 as well. And of course i have tried reinstalled the program. The problem only fixes when i close and reopen LO which is not very effective since i'm currently working for a professional project. I hope someone could point out the fault i may be making. Thanks!

Nice, I know it and use it a lot.
But I would like to have pdf import into SU/LO on PCs too ;-)
