I’ve never purchased anything from Temu or SHEIN and I plan on keeping it that way! 🙌🏽

They are also cheap because they skirt import fees and avoid sales taxes. So unlike local businesses which are forced to pay those and support local infrastructure they are like a parasite using our systems without paying as well.

Here's to giving a f**k and buying less stuff. 🎉 I deeply resonate with your energy. Thank you, Gittemary, for sharing your gifts with the collective. You're such a beautiful soul. 🙏💜✨️

I watch a lot of ASMR content for sleep, and recently stumbled upon a small-ish creator from the US who partnered with Temu after her husband lost his job and they found themselves on a very tight budget - and proceeded to show a phone case, home decor, and other trinkets bought from the website. I assume she didn't really pay for that stuff as it was a partnership, but the very idea of buying home decor and a bunch of gimmicks when you claim to struggle financially says everything we need to know about hyperconsumerism.

I can proudly say I have never bought any garbage from Temu or SHEIN

Thank you for sharing this, I think a lot of people just don't care where their stuff comes from, how it's made or how to recycle it etc. I never buy from any fast fashion/homewares etc. Its hard though if you can't afford to buy more sustainable things. But I guess that's where upcyling could come in 😅

Good to see people who care, even if there are far too few of us ❤

I borrowed someone’s dress the other day and it was from Shein. I had to wear it, but it sent a shudder down my spine to think of the slavery required to make it and poor quality of the fabric.

I am an expat in Denmark. They love talking about being ecological, sustainable, and natural handmade, but just can not stop overconsuming.

So i am not surprised that temu is popular in Denmark, even though it feels wrong. The average person here and in general in Scandinavia, just have no clue how much they overconsume while spouting sustainability.

If you buy a shirt for R50 ($2.50 I guess), then there is no way the people who's labour went into it was paid anything close to a liveable wage. It's immoral to save money on the backs of the poor. Buy good quality and pay for good quality.

Also, the danish coverment is warning against them!

I hope they soon get banned.

I was always leery of Temu and stayed clear of it.

Temu goes against pretty much everything I believe in. Apart from necessities needing to be affordable. But you can't even know if it's necessities or if it will break in two minutes and/or LITERALLY being toxic. So no thanks. Other shops have affordable necessities too and with way less risk. Also way less legal risk. It's a whole thing, God I swear temu is SO bad.
