#Paris is a city of light and shadow, one of the most romantic cities in the world. More than 2000 years separates modern Paris from the small town #Lutetia, founded by a tribe of Celtic Gauls - the parisia.
In 508, Clovis I made Paris the capital of his kingdom. For a long time, the city was only a modest residence of the Merovingian and Carolingian kings.
Paris turned into a true capital in 987, when Hugh Capet founded a new dynasty and gave the city a status, which he has maintained throughout the history of #France.
Paris grew into one of the most important cities in the western world and acquired all the features of a powerful and monumental capital.
