Rishi Sunak laughs off SNP attack over North Sea energy taxes

At Prime Minister's Questions today the SNP's Westminster leader, Stephen Flynn, attacked the UK government, saying: 'Conservative Party in Scotland are absolutely furious that Westminster is about to tax Scotland’s natural resources in order to pay for a tax cut in England.'

The PM, Rishi Sunak, replied 'He claims to be supportive of the North Sea energy industry, why is it that he’s opposed all the measures we have taken to protect those jobs in Scotland over the past couple of years?'

The last time that I looked, Scotland was a constituent country of the UK. As such any wealth created in any of the countries of the UK is for the benefit of us all.
This is typical of the SNP. It seems that they can share in the rest of the UK's wealth but it is only them that are entitled to the oil and gas revenues from the North Sea fields. The mere fact that there is an annual overspend of around £37bn in purely Scottish matters is ignored by them. The fact that the Treasury subsumes Scotland's fiscal deficit into the UK's is seemingly irrelevant to them.
It's all grievance with them.
