Canada election: O'Toole faces questions on leadership after Tories lose race

Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole is vowing he will keep moving the party forward, and learn from its mistakes from the campaign, after losing the federal election to Liberal Leader and re-elected Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Despite O'Toole presenting himself as more progressive and an effort to move his party to the centre, the Tory seat count has slightly dropped compared to the 2019 election.

Mike Le Couteur reports on the leadership review O'Toole now faces, and what pundits are suggesting the Conservatives do if they want to win over more Canadian voters.

O'Toole ran a campaign that didn't reflect in the slightest what the CPC Party he was leading represented given their Convention. I thought he was running for the Liberals. Until the last week when he must've thought Bernier was taking his 'base' because the harsh social stands of the CPC started showing up. It was missing for the first 5 weeks.

O'Toole authored his own demise when he said the Conservative Party in 2021 was not the Conservative Party of our fathers and grandfathers. That convinced me it was heading in the wrong direction. I don't want Liberal Lite. I happily voted PPC.

We want a Conservative party who who will zip up the wallet and invest instead of spend and pay off this massive Debt the liberals will continue to keep making going forward. However you want to try and appeal to everyone instead of keeping firm on conservative issues. Also make it easier for farmers to get produce and meat to market so the prices come back down instead of regulating everything so the prices go up. Also invest into farmers futures to deal with climate change so we plan ahead instead of getting caught with a massive shortage due to drought and other environmental issue that effect farms. We need to produce our own products here in Canada and the USA and try and tighten relations when it comes to jobs.
