I say the ultra short scale bass is like using piccolo bass strings on a standard scale. It adds a shit ton of brightness to the over all tone. But I think it wouldnt be the best for a full band mix cause of the tone almost reaching the brightness of the guitars. For a soloistic approach it would be perfect for that application. Another neat build man!

To my ears, the 3 string is almost annoyingly bright and “attackey”. That would probably work very much in its favor in a metal setting, though

Cool video and comparison. \m/ that 3-string bass is interesting. It reminds me of when my brother converted his bass to a guitar. It was pretty cool. Also I dig the Ibanez bass. I have the same model. Only it’s in a navy metallic finish. Anywho, both sounded great and sounded killer with fuzz. I can imagine how awesome it would sound with darkglass pedals.

With the fuzz added it sounds surprisingly similar. I think if you put thick strings on the strat bass it would work really well. I can see why the 28” bass could be used in a pro setting if the strings were a little thicker than average.

You should modify a 12 string low E2 A2 D3 G3 to a E1 A1 D2 G2 if possible!

They should have 25.5 in Bass VI's which you just restring a Guitar with Octave Down Tuning Strings. There should be shorter scale basses for those who have very little hands.
