Battle Beyond the Stars is a 1980 American space opera film from New World Pictures, produced by Roger Corman, directed by Jimmy T. Murakami,[1] that stars Richard Thomas, Robert Vaughn,[2][3] George Peppard, John Saxon,[4][5][6] Sybil Danning,[7] and Darlanne Fluegel.[8] Battle Beyond the Stars, intended as a "Magnificent Seven in outer space",[9] is based on The Magnificent Seven (in which Vaughn also appeared), the Western remake of Akira Kurosawa's film Seven Samurai.[10][11][12] The screenplay was written by John Sayles, the score was composed by James Horner, and the special effects were designed by James Cameron.
