On Tuesday, President Vladimir Putin reiterated his commitment to Russia's ongoing one-year war in Ukraine. He accused the NATO alliance, led by the United States, of exacerbating the conflict with the misguided notion that it could defeat Russia. Flanked by four Russian tricolour flags, Putin addressed Russia's political and military leaders, assuring them that Russia would address its responsibilities "carefully and consistently." Putin also stated that Russia had attempted to avoid the war and that Ukraine, supported by the West, had been plotting to attack Crimea. Putin went on to criticize the West, claiming that it had instigated conflict and turmoil in numerous regions throughout the world.
