His playing on the album South of Heaven should be a part of music history.

Such a humble guy compared to a lot of musicians in his position

Lombardo is the guy in the band who’s NOT an idiot. There’s a seminar with Q&A where he breaks down why he left slayer for the final time; literally he showed them their own numbers and they were getting robbed blind by all the business associates and they had no idea. Plus when he came back they treated him like a hire-on, which in some cases would apply but not in this case as far as I’m concerned…

Dave will be remembered for all time for his greatness. His legacy is intact. Period.

So awesome when you find out that one of your heroes is such a cool person. He's been as important to Slayer as Jeff.

The Band treated Dave poorly. Now that Jeff is dead Slayer can't be without Lombardo. A few Weeks maternity leave was not too much to ask.

One of the pioneers of fast singles on the kicks. Dave’s contribution to Slayer’s discography is huge. He served the songs very well. Also, played a right hand kit like Ringo, as a lefty. Great interview.

What a great, humble, dude. I know drummers are cut from a different cloth in general, but most just seem like genuinely good guys.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dave at a taping of That Metal Show. He is the nicest guy, and super appreciative of his fans.

To this day I laugh when people call Slayer white supremacists. The lead singer is from Chile and the drummer is from Cuba. The ignorance of the masses amuses me.

What I like about Lombardo in addition to him being such an energetic and original drummer always willing to experiment and find new elements to his playing is his down-to-earth attitude. He has reason to be angry/bitter towards Slayer, yet he is willing to remember also the good times and embraces the great work they have done together in the past. Wanting to spend time with your family and kids should be respected more. Kids need to have a thrashing, ass-kicking dad!😎

If that story about Rick Rubin is true (and Dave has always seemed 100% legit), Slayer has a lot more to thank him for than they've ever acknowledged.

First, the dude was an absolutely essential part of the sound and energy that made them famous, and according to this he also helped initiate the deal that launched them to super stardom, and yet they fucked him over multiple times. Yay for business and art.
