ikr! i’m on a ‘sketchbook tour’ binge, , and it’s kind of daunting to see everyone’s beautiful spreads of polished pieces while my sketchbooks look like creative vomit 😭

I really appreciate this. I honestly don't trust video sketchbook tours that feature only spotless drawings. It feels unrealistic and way too curated. Thanks for giving a more common perspective!

It’s just people are different that’s it. Some artists - like myself - have separate sketchbooks for more serious sketches, some use sketchbooks for every line they ever put on paper.

What a relief😂 Yeah, I have a mixed bag in every singe sketchbook. Lots of weird doodles and messes that only a past version of me understands.

A sketchbook is where you practice to draw various things and maybe experiment too. But I dont do swatches in mine: i do any swatching on scrap papers. I do try to put only drawings in them. In some I may be experimenting with creating different textures. Like I find it very hard to draw rock so my current picture is a brick wall closeup i am workinf on. Before that I did a figure study of 4 people walking. And before that I drew horses + landscapes. It was the landscapes that made me realize I couldnt do rocks very well... Oh I also drew flowers and leaves yesterday too. But I dont scribble or doodle in it. In fact I really dont doodle at all??

Looks like you were testing new medias... yeah i probably wouldnt buy it unless it was done by a child. I plan on buying one of my son's if hes kept any fro. Early childhood. Ill pay him top dollar too.
