So what a great way to teach some valuable information. And they made a hobo stove and with them gathering materials for a fire which they lit themselves with feral rod and even a magnify glass!

Great explanation, David! I was wondering why you took the teeth off the sides of the file. It didn't occur to me that the sparks were the iron coming off the file.

I too liked the pinecone trick. How bad did you scratch your trunk dragging that metal pan across it. ?

I thought it was the friction of instantly shearing a piece of steel off the main piece and the friction was high enough to heat the splinter red although there are alot of instances where accumulated dusts are actually silos etc

Hey David, you are a good instructor, though I am novice in fire starting, and committed to being proficient at it, in case of hard times and teaching my children, your channel would be even better if you taught different ways to collect, purify, store water, as well .fire and water both key survival skills . I think you could pull it off, with this expansion .
