Apple March 8, 2022 Event Preview!

We are on the verge of what might be Apple's first event of 2022 with an Apple spring event which could take place sometime next month in March or April and at this event we are expecting a few new products including a brand new iPhone SE with 5G and an A15 chip, a new iPad Air with an updated A15 chip, 5G, and centerstage camera, and Apple's first pro desktop computer with a new Mac mini pro with an m1 pro and m1 max chip, complete with a brand new design and yes - lots of ports! However, is there something else that might be missing at this event...

Well that sucks if the iMac Pro is not coming until June. Have to say I’m tempted by the Mac mini but finding a comparable monitor on looks and features is a tall order. Or has that changed ?

I’ve always been a fan of the Mac mini, but as a power user, it has mostly been useless for me, until the new Apple chips. Now I’ll likely buy a high end Mac mini for my next main machine.

I want an iMac that is a direct replacement for the 2015/2017 27" Retina. Hopefully with the M2 chip in it. 16 or 36gb and 1tb drive. Starting price at somewhere between $1, 699 and $1, 899. I'd have it on pre-order the day it was available.

It is very (!) dissappointing that almost 2 years after the m1 announcment, the iMac 5k has still not been refreshed with Apple silicon... What shall I do with a Mac Mini without a 5k monitor that is not a cheap third party plastiky box like the LG 5k?

Yes, disappointed that I won’t see the new 27 iMac but I’m now seriously considering the new Mac mini pro…if I can find an affordable but solid monitor to go with it.

I will wait until I see the high end Mac Mini prices vs the high end iMac prices. I’m either going XDR+Mini, or iMac. I do a lot of color grading in Davinci Resolve, and need a powerful machine paired with a top class display.
