Spinaloga Lasithi Crete

Spinalonga is a small island, just 85 acres, at the entrance of the bay of Elounda in the prefecture of Lassithi. Those who had Hansen's disease, otherwise known as leprosy, went to Spinalonga. The leprosarium remained open until 1957.
