Senjougahara's VA didn't know why and was actually worried that people would think she'd forgotten how to sing.

I just finished this anime and i always laugh when this opening comes up because it feels like kaiki and hitagi intended to make a shitpost and its totally in character for them to do it.

i HATE the fact that such a little amount of people appreciate this opening. I personally think it is the best opening of the entire series and one of the best openings in all anime. The vibes, the nostalgia, the city pop 80/90's vibe, I love it all

I just want you to notice the fact that some of the visuals in this opening have an 80s anime style. Nadeko usually likes writing 80s like manga, so there could be a connection here. Koimonogatari also has Nadeko as a major character.

This is one of the best OPs in anime, ever. Shaft did a lot of work to make this into an 80's anime tribute and it shows. The AMAZING nostalgia-filled duet ballad is one thing but they also masterfully mixed modern animation and art style with the older 80's art style and aesthetics. I specifically bloody love the shot where Kaiki and Senjougahara both hold out their hands for each other and the images flip from one hand to the other in sliced segments of the screen. They also added some good old cliches like driving a nice car next to a beach. It seems like they also opted for a lower resolution in the 80's aesthetic scenes of the opening, and they definitely used an older font for their credits.

There are so many reasons for loving this intro that It's hard to find a good place to start. I mean the whole thing is pretty much a contradiction of itself. First you have the brightly colored 80s-90s art style, which is pretty much the furthest you could get from monogataris muted colors and simple but detailed animation. Then there is the two characters featured. Kaiki, who, in the show with a very serious and almost macabre appearance, is driving a red Mazda mx5 with the top down on a sunny day by the beach while also wearing a light t shirt and pink sweater. Then you have Senjougahara (I probably spelled that wrong) who has a very serious and sometimes frightening attitude, is singing with a cute and even playful sounding voice. I could go on and on with all the symbolism and imagery and you'll always find something new each time you watch it.

You really hear it throughout the whole song slightly but I love how especially at 0:40 you hear that rhythmic synth from senjougahara‘s first opening.
