Minimalist Men's Pants Collection (Only 6 Pairs)

These are the six pairs of pants every guy needs in his closet. With just these six pairs (two pairs of trousers, two pairs of chinos and two pairs of jeans), you'll be ready for any occasion. This minimalist pants collection consists of trousers (or "slacks"), chinos and jeans - two pairs of each type of pants.

Of course, you'll probably want to own more pants than just these six pairs, but this is a great starting point. If you had to build your wardrobe from scratch, these are the pants you would want to buy first. I'll show you each pair of pants, tell you where I got them and how I like to wear them.

The word "Khaki" comes from Hindi word "Khaakh" which basically means dust or soil and these type of pants were worn by the Cops and postmen (as uniforms) most of the time in India when it was ruled by the Brits.

1. Beige/Sand Chinos
2. Blue Dark Wash Raw Jeans(Navy/Indigo)
3. Black/Grey Jeans
4. Light Grey Chinos(Better than you think!)
I don't need to wear formal trousers yet.

I survive on 4 pants:
slacks
dark denim jeans
light denim jeans
black jeans
and a bunch of shirts and jackets

Am a shorter man myself. Suggestion - would be really good to see a video with your tailor, going through the process of having your trousers hemmed in or fitted.

Outside of my suit (I never break up the jacket and pants), I could probably survive on just black jeans and dark wash jeans. If I worked in a more business casual environment, I'd likely add 2-3 pairs of trousers to that and call it a day.

Honestly it's easy imo
1 blue chinos/ denim
1 black chinos/ denim
1 track pant for the gym
3 formal pants/ formals that can be worn as casuals

When I was a student, I totally could get by with 5 or 6 pairs of pants. 2 pair of jeans, one blue and one black. Corduroy pants in brown, blue or grey. Two pairs of chino, one in khaki color, the other in grey, or blue. And one pair of charcoal grey dress pants for the occasional semi formal event.


Life is more complicated as an adult who still needs the casual pants, but also needs a wardrobe full of dress pants and suits, so instead of one pair of dress pants, make it 1 pair each in light grey, dark grey, blue, tan, taupe or olive, and black, in addition to the 5 casual pants.


There you have it. My "minimalist" 10 pant collection, not including suits.

I'm fine with 3 pairs lol. I guess it depends on lifestyle and events you have to attend.
I have black chinos, grey chinos and jeans.
