Soccer in South American is like a religion to them, it feels like it’s a must play sport for the Latin’s there.

While it may not sound like much, playing against Bolivia or Ecuador at over 3000m above sea level, against colombia in a permanent 30+ degrees celsius, against 50 thousand or more in La Bombonera. Even the middle of the pack teams can take on the best teams in the continent. Our local teams might not be as expensive, but they create the players that later become stars in Europe, Flamengo or River could compete against good european teams and sometimes surprises happen in libertadores and sudamericana and great players come out of those surprises.

The intensity of southamerican football is something most people don't get until they get to watch a Boca vs River match or when they understand the geography and culture of our continent

South America are at a very good moment right now because many European teams are building new generation of players. (Belgium golden generation dying, Spain has a whole new young roster, Germany as well etc) so it’s a perfect opportunity for South America to be on top as of current.
