The whole piano part was played by John Lennon on the Challen upright. Paul did only the two little arpeggio overdubs in the last verse, at 2:32 and 2:36, on the Steinway.

I think Paul actually does play some piano: the little ringlets in the last verse (Idk what else to call them!) They sounds down for him more than John.

The opening chord was actually created by John Lennon furiously banging on the piano because he hated this song.
