I would definitely not let my 11 year old cut my hair. My son did make an attempt to cut his own hair with a pair of kitchen shears, cutting it quite short on the left side of his head. When I saw it, I was not happy. Thankfully my husband is the family barber and stylist, when I pointed it to him, I told him he needs to fix this. Hubby usually gives my two boys their haircuts every three weeks, but I don’t know why he decided to hack his own hair. Well hubby got out his bag of barber tools and took care of it. He warned me that he would have to cut it shorter than usual to get it evened out and I told him to do it. He took it down pretty short with the clippers. He gave my other son his haircut being he was set up, no problem there. Having him do the haircuts for my boys I figure at 17 haircuts a year at $25 each saves me $850. I take a seat on the stool every couple months, get caped, hubby combs out my elbow length hair, sections it, pins it up and then trims each layer in increments. He does a great job every time, I have not been to the salon in years. I figure they would easily charge me a hundred dollars or more given my length, and would take off more than I want them do. So I am definitely saving over $600 a year. Hubby cuts his own hair every month or so. Home haircuts save a lot of money and it is a great skill to learn. Hubby also gives my best friend haircuts when she visits to get a trim, and he has also given haircuts to a couple other friends of mine that have asked. At first a couple friends thought it was odd that I would have him cut my hair, but then they asked questions about how he does it, and then they figured that I had it pretty good. If your daughter develops a knack for cutting hair, it will definitely a great skill that will save her family and friends a lot of money.
