Most Scandinavians ended up in the upper Midwest around Minnesota, Iowa, and the Dakotas.

My family left Hardanger, Norway on a sloop bound for New Orleans. We were supposed to end up in Clifton, TX guided by Cleng Peerson, but a Tornado hit a Lumber and Rail Yard near the Choctaw Indian Reservation in Mississippi, and my family bought the land for pennies on the dollar, and leased hundreds more acres from the tribe there, ultimately buying them out in 1929.

The Cotton Gin made so many Southern families into old money. They literally came from Norway with the equivalent of $700 today for a family of 5!!!!

I often wonder how life would have been different had they gone on to Texas.
