Loved this Episode of Car Trek. Would love to see an Japanese Fuel Saving Challenge where you can pick any Cool ICE powered vehicle off of AutoTempest, like Mini K trucks from Japan. And subsequently pick a country and pull from domestic stock.

In the 80's I imported a Gray Market 81 Mercedes 280 CE 4 speed stick shift. stick shift ones were never exported by Mercedes to the US. It had to go through a compliance program, bars in the doors and behind the bumpers, change the odometer to MPH instead of kilometers and change to US headlights. I told the compliance guy he could change out the headlights, but I wanted the euro ones because they were going right back in. He said, "How about we don't change them and just say we did" LOL.
