for Q5, why do you say both v and w are positive? Why isn't v negative for example because we're taking right as positive and direction is flipped so the velocity would be negative. (I know I'm wrong, just confused)

For the last question, it's 'held at rest'. Doesn't that imply an external force/store of energy, because if that were not there, it would be moving and have KE? Or is that transferred to the EPE stores of the spring?

For anyone wondering why for q7 part c the speed is at a maximum when the forces are balanced is because this is when the acceleration is 0. if a>0 then it won't be at max speed yet and if a<0 then it hit max speed before. So for f=ma, a = 0 so f = 0 and so forces are balanced :)
