Happy Fibroid Awareness Month (July)

Having fibroid surgery may not seem funny on it's face but whenever I joke about it on-stage... Women come up to me afterwards to share their experiences; sometimes right down to their white blood cell count.

I think this is what good standup does. It puts a humorous light on the vagaries of life, giving people permission to laugh in recognition and say, "OMG! Me too!" Sometimes adversity can seem more manageable when we can find the funny in it, together.
