It’s always a good option to keep some gold. Well with the current market situation and everything at stake with the present economy, I’d say you’re better off staying away from stocks fr awhile or better still reach out to an adviser for guidance.

I left BoA when they took bailout money in 2008. That was my clue they weren’t managing things well.

If I were her, I would close my account and take all my money out of that terrible crooked bank.

People don’t realize it yet because the uncertainty and inconvenience, but they’re doing you a favor. BoA is awful, keep your money locally.

I was a BofA member since I was 15 years old. I’m now 34. Back in 2022 I closed my account and took my money to Navy Federal. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I was so sick of BofA’s unnecessary account fees among other things.

That is appalling. Poor lady. Something like that happened to me with Wells Fargo, but I wasn’t impacted as seriously as this lady.

My experience was waiting over an hour at Bank of America just to open an account. I got tired of waiting and went across the street to another bank and opened the account within minutes of arriving there. One year later I am still banking with them! 😅

I'm old school. I will not open an online bank account on a computer or cellphone. When asked for Overdraft Protection, I always decline. Been down that road and it was vicious.

I am with Navy Federal Credit Union. I have been out of the Navy for 32 years, and the closest local branch is 4 hours away, in Norfolk Virginia.

There is a reason I am still with Navy Federal Credit Union.

USAA is missing 2 of my personal accounts. I’ve been sending them photos of my accounts representing photos of the accounts missing and I continue to ask to speak with a fraud department and NO ONE IS HELPING. Minus $33, 000.00 thus far.

Credit unions are the way to go. The federal trade commission, CFP, or dep of Justice needs to sue them. It shouldn’t take a news agency to resolve closed accounts. BOA is simply trying to CYA by reopening her account.

I know at least two friends who were caused financial hardship by BOA back when people were supposed to be able to refi. The friends submitted paperwork over and over, at the request of BOA, but were repeatedly told the paperwork (electronic actually) had something missing or was not received or other tactics to avoid processing their requests and outright lying about it all the way. In both cases because of these tactics, my friends had to file for bankruptcy or sell their houses. Soon after, I saw a BOA CEO on a TV program bragging about how BOA had successfully weathered the financial crisis - on the backs of regular folks who lost their homes - not because they were good bankers. To my knowledge they were never prosecuted for doing this to people, even though it was a federal program. I will never do business with them. If a crisis comes, you, the customer, will take the hit, you can be sure of that.

Thank you for sharing this story. My heart goes out to this woman. 💔
You need to be your own central bank. Only keep the money on the bank you need to pay bills. The rest should be in your possession. Be your own central bank. 😊

Actually NO they CAN'T close an account UNTIL it has a 0 balance....

If you have proof of an existing balance in a specific account, may want to call your State Bar and get a lawyer involved

You'll need screenshots, account and routing numbers along with the bank name and specific days and times those screenshots were taken

I have 3 banks, but most of my money deposits into BOA. I then transfer it to my other banks. I like having a bank in any city I go 2. BOA is in every.big city in the USA.
