I installed a metal security screen outside my door with a heavy deadbolt that opens outward. It’s great. I can even open my door and still be secured while talking to someone that knocks on my door.

I haven't locked my door since I bought my house. It's also 90% glass so not much point, it's the dogs on the other side of the glass that keeps people out, if you want in, they'll happily drag you in.
