What makes Julia such a damn good bass player is that she listens to the music around her. You can hear in a lot of her fills that she will follow melodies or lines from other instruments and then add her own spin on them. Sometimes even transferring from one instrument's line to another instrument's line in the same fill. That and her ability to sit right in the pocket and keep perfect time. Very inspiring playing.
