In this video I show you how to install a critical upgrade on your BMW.
I upgrade to a full oil pressure gauge on my 2008 BMW E90 335i with the N54 engine.

Upgrading to a true oil pressure sensor on your BMW could save you a lot of money if it potentially saves your motor.

I install an AEM 100 PSI oil pressure sensor in this video.

If you want to mimic my setup you would need the following parts:

Aftermarket oil cooler (affiliate):

OEM O-Rings for oil cooler (affiliate):

P3 Gauge (affiliate):

The adapter for the oil pressure sensor (affiliate):

The pressure sensor kit (affiliate):

If you have a factory oil cooler you can get the following adapter instead (not an affiliate):

If you want to install an aftermarket gauge you can use the following gauge pod (affiliate):

Here is a 45 mm oil pressure gauge that could work in that vent pod and with that sensor (affiliate):

If this is the first video you are catching of mine please consider subscribing. I upload regularly.

Thanks for watching :)

When you see the word "affiliate" listed beside any link in my description please know that this is a custom link and I will earn a small commission if you opt to purchase using said link. This is at no extra cost to you so it's a win all around :) Thank you!

Solid content. N55 owner here, wish I had a dipstick, I miss seeing and smelling the oil of my cars - can give very helpful diagnostic information.

I would recommend just cross check your calibration on the sensor, when I work on N54 and check oil pressure I take out the oil pressure switch sensor and use my OTC oil and transmission pressure tester, I had to buy an addition fitting a m12x1.5. I just recommend it to ensure your reading is true. Typically i see about 90 PSI on cold starts

Just replaced BMW oil pressure sensor with genuine BMW part. Works perfect. Its just im always wary of non-bmw parts not engineered for the car.

Only channel where you may think it's a clickbait but the headline is actually true. 🤔

Please be aware that the placement of the sensor in this location only gives proper reading if you have removed/reversed the oil thermostat or placed a "low temp thermostat" from BMS or FTP (note, both of these are not true temperature depended thermostats. They allow static flow all the time)
If you have a stock setup or a upgrade like Mosselman then the thermostat most likely influences the pressure reading.

Woo! was literally about to do this myself, but you found a great install kit!

IIRC, the factory sensor is set at 8psi. Meaning the dummy light will come on (switch open) @ 8psi.

I wish all cars came with a real oil pressure gauge from the factory like Miata's do. Almost none do these days, usually just a dummy gauge or dummy light, and the same type of stock 1 pin switch you showed.

Reminder it's always important to check the oil level every couple of weeks only if it does not leak or consume oil! If it leaks the daily-!
