The Disadvantages of Filing A VA Disability Claim – Surprising Truths Revealed

When the time comes to file a VA disability claim, it can be difficult to know what to expect. There are several important factors you should consider before submitting your claim, such as a proposed rating reduction to your overall VA disability rating.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you open up your current VA disability rating to a re-evaluation and it results in a VA rating reduction, you may be subject to a decrease in your overall disability compensation. This means that depending on the severity of your disability, you could lose out on valuable benefits.

Additionally, if you file a claim for a condition that is not service related or has been previously denied by the VA, your chances for approval are slim. This can be very frustrating, as there is often no way to appeal a VA decision once it has been made.

Finally, the application process itself can take months or even years to resolve. This can be extremely difficult if you’re facing financial hardship due to your disability and need immediate access to benefits.
The bottom line is that filing a VA disability claim is an important decision and should not be taken lightly.

VA disability may not directly affect your employment chances, but I'll tell you right now, as soon as I told the interviewer my schedule, I have physical therapy 2-3 times a week as well as eye treatments that take me out for 2-3 days a month with other possibke surgeries on the way, They change their tune really quick. I'm almost certain that's why the last 3 jobs applications I've been rejected

Should I file the conditions that I need to now, and just upload medical evidence later? I don’t have long before the intent to file expires on December 11th?

Combat Craig when you say you go to the doctor 4 times a year to defend your current disability ratings, what exactly does that look like? Are you going to a specialist for each of your disability ratings? I appreciate you and your videos they have helped me out a ton!

I was denied disabilty for tonsil cancer from exposure to agent orange. It was denied as it is not one of the "presumtive" cancers assoicated with agent oraange. Some recent research showed a Vietnam veteran as my self with toncil cancer had same results, denied, he appealed and went to court where the court decided in his favor. Do I have any recourse to refile now as I am well past one year appeal period and should I just go to an attorney?

Do you need to get treatment through the VA or could you get treatment from other places such as acupuncture for a back strain and send that to the VA?

So true. I put in a claim. I had a lousy CMP. My examiner. For my claim for headache/migraine secondary to tinnitus, she scheduled me a review CMP exam for tinnitus. I was rated for tinnitus in 2007. I showed her my headache/migraines have been active since 2005 while in the military. I retired in 2007. Confirmed and active by VA. She also scheduled a PTSD initial claiming my symptoms are worst. I informed VA. The only information they gave. I need to make the appointment if not my claim will be denied. Thanks a lot, LHI West Houston. You make have change your name. But your tactics have not changed (Optum Serve).

If I work for a company that’s not government would filing a claim hurt me? I’m 80% now and I just found out I have sleep apnea after finally doing a sleep study. I was told that I will likely be at 100% if I file. How would being at 100% impact my current job?

What if you’re 100% permanent and total do I still need to go to the doctor because mine is 100% PTSD and the therapist with the VA do not help

I have a question… I put in my intent to file a disability claim for the pact act last last month; however, I don’t want to file anymore, because I don’t want to risk what I have. Will not filing after opening the intent to file bring any negative attention from the va towards me? Or will they just be happy I decided not to ask for more?

Hi, I know this has nothing to do with what you’re talking about .. I have a question for anyone on here .. a little more then a month ago i had a C&P exam for my insomnia. This is how they wrote it down > Insomnia disorder with other specified trauma-and-stressor-related disorder. I went on a Monday and by the following Friday they had me rated at 70% for it . They never ordered and i have never did a VA sleep study . Now I’m not complaining at all, but was wondering why was my claim approved so fast (4 days ) and why didn’t they have me do a sleep study ? Thank you in advance.. it’s been on my mind now for a while and would like to understand more about it ..

Do y’all offer legal advice for Veterans getting discriminated in employment applications? I’d like to schedule a 1 on 1 and get an input on my situation. They used my ratings as part of their evaluations..

So if I have filed a claim for anxiety a few months back and i have seen the c and p examiner. It says still in Step 3 of gathering information. After seeing the c and p examiner I have also seen the va and recieved some medicine for anxiety, but I haven't seen the psychiatrist and I'm on the schedule to see a va one in November. Is it too late to try to get a diagnosis and Nexus letter now that I'm this fat in the process? Should I wait to see if it gets denied then try to go get one? I'm just curious if they will throw out a nexus letter and diagnosis if I get them after the filing date as combat craig says I have to get them before I file.

I trust you. I asked my vso if there was any Chance me filing for tinnitus could ALSO Affect my current 50% for backpain/shooting legs pains and she said no. I was worried as I can't afford to not have the health care 50% has. Now I'm a Lil stressed now that this video came out 😅
