Hello Students! Welcome to Homework Joy.
Are you confused by looking at different shapes, whether they are parallelograms or not? Don’t miss out on this video. Here we’ll discuss the properties of parallelograms that make parallelograms different from other geometry shapes. But to understand the properties of parallelograms, understand what a parallelogram means. It is a quadrilateral that has opposite sides parallel to one another. So today, we’ll be seeing six of its properties in detail.

So let’s start our session of the day.

1 Property
Opposite Sides are Parallel
If the given shape is a #parallelogram, then opposite sides of the shape will be parallel. That means these lines will have the exact same distance, and they will never meet.

2 Property
Opposite Sides are Congruent
Each of the opposite sides is the same in length. If you break the shape and place shoes on each other, they will line up perfectly.

3 Property
#Opposite Angles are Congruent
The angles opposite to each other are congruent. Generally, a parallelogram has two acute and two obtuse angles with the same measurement.

4 Property
#Consecutive Angles are #Supplementary
In a parallelogram, the sum of two consecutive angles is 180 degrees. Let’s say if one is 30 degrees and the other is 150 degrees, both will make 180 #degrees on addition.

5 Property
Diagonals Bisect Each Other
If you draw two imaginary lines from one angle to another congruent angle on both sides, they must bisect each other.

6 Property
One Right Angle
If one angle measures 90 degrees, then all the angles in the parallelogram will measure 90 degrees.
