Note: As some viewers have pointed it out, the flag shown in the beginning is disproportionate. I have made a note of it. Thanks for letting me know.

Finland is the happiest country on Earth. (if happiness can be measured) and I have always felt a certain kinship towards the Finnish people.

Have a look and I hope you enjoy the video.

Ha ha, your belief that we Finns are lacking emotions is totally wrong!! We just more calm in public.

The crucial thing about the baby box was not necessarily just the box itself, but that to get it expecting mothers had to visit (free) pre-natal clinics. To this day, to get the box you need to visit a maternity and child health clinic before your 18th week of pregnancy.

One of the main reasons for excessive coffee drinking is the same as with excessive alcohol consumption. Prohibition. The crown tried several times to ban coffee, but failed. And every time it became more important. There was at least three instances when this happened.

We don't lack emotions, but we just don't like to show them in public. On the fines, the purpose of them is not to collect money or pay off the police, but to be a punishment. And to get roughly equal punishment to somebody who is a millionaire or to somebody who is a pensioner, it absolutely makes sense in my opinion to have the payment be proportional to income. On the coffee times, for many people, me included, NATO coffee also was a thing, a once-in-a-lifetime coffee moment when Finland officially joined NATO.

Btw, the flag proportions on the video are not correct (the cross is way too thin). The law actually requires the flags to be to the specification, and actually somebody who uses as a Finnish flag a flag that clearly differs by color or measures clearly from the one set in the law is to be fined. I'm not making this up, it's the law 26.5.1978/380 8 §. I doubt anyone would fine based on a video, but the law on the flag in general is quite strict.

You know, Just randomly I started looking up personality stuff about finish people as I just seem different then most canadians and americans around me. My mom is 50% finnish and my dad has some finish. I have always been calm, very calm and I drink more coffee then anyone I know. They dont know how and im still fine and calm. I just love the taste and it makes me feel happy. I can drink it at night, before bed. Anytime. When I played sports I was like that guy haha I never understood people who jump around and freak out. I was always like 'nice' in my mind. Finnish people are rare to I dont know anyone else with finnish growing up.

Got angry when lack of emotions was mentioned and that almost made me cry as well - coffee consumption: turned 20 in 1981 and I've drank four and a half cups of coffee since then. Before that one cup a year. I don't like coffee. Last two cups: 16th of October 2016 my other son wanted me to taste black coffee and when my spouse had birthday on 4th of 2000 I had a small cup of coffee with milk...

I was skiing once in the North of Finland and had to take a taxi to go to the next town. For whatever reason the highway we took had a stretch of 2-3 kilometers with a 50 km speed limit. The highway, which passed through the middle-of-nowhere, was absolutely empty, with no speed cameras and no police hiding in the bush with a radar speed gun, but the driver duly slowed down to 50 km and picked up only when we passed that stretch.

I read a humongous amount of emotion there.
Finns are just too polite to plaster it on everyone else's faces. It takes skill to read the smaller ways to express emotion.

Regarding number 5, we Finns just seem to be "content" most of the time. I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be due to our history as a nation that's always had to numb its emotions to survive under the might of a bigger country, like Sweden and then the Russian Empire. Even today, we're talking and presenting scenarios regarding the nation that keeps having issues with Ukraine's sovereignty.

Cool behavior does not mean lack of emotion. Example you told at the end is a joke

If you want to see emotional Finnish people... Just watch any time Finland plays ice hockey in the finals (espesially against Sweden).

When I worked at the University of Lapland, people would have coffee in the morning, then lunch, then at the 14:30 coffee chat, then they would sometimes have a last cup before going home....

Good video but go to a Finnish ice hockey match with Finnish fans. Especially in playoff time. You'll get emotions, You'll get emotions overload 😁

Saunakahvi? Wtf is that? After sauna folks like to have a cold beer, ice cream or something _not_ hot to consume.
