I like all of your videos, but this one is my favorite! This one should be required viewing for all aspiring homesteaders. All those things you mentioned are absolutely vital for a successful homestead, yet so many newbies fail to consider any of them.

We own our 10 acre homestead with no mortgage. We have been debt free for 6 years and are considering a small loan for a tractor and then the push to finally build the shop, work the land, and see where it goes. Great advice and video. Mark from Living a Sustainable Dream.

That rooster was right on cue at 3:21, he helped you to emphasize your point.

We purchase a vacant lot for $12, 000 dollars. The lot came with a water meter, wastewater main, and natural gas meter. Them we purchased a 30 ft x 40 ft house to be moved. The cost of buying, moving and small renovation total came to $32, 000 dollars all cash from our savings. Now all our cost for shelter are utilities, taxes and insurance.

Thanks for the video! We are in the land search and planning phase. We have been travelling the country for about 9 years and have worked seasonally the whole time and we are used to surviving off meager earnings and resources. So I think We are pretty well prepared. We are thinking Arkansas or Missouri maybe Tennessee or kentucky. The key for us as you have stated staying DEBT FREE!

I really like your info. Thank you, right now my husband and I are in the planning stages and are beginning a 5 year plan of saving, so we can purchase a plot of land . Eventually building on it and making it a homestead with chickens and goats. We really want to go about it in a way where we won't end up in huge piles of debt. Subscribed to you, thanks again.

I have been downsized twice in 8 years and now I am turning to homesteading in the future. Right now, i am trying to get debt free then save up for a down payment of a 5-10 acre farm in Florida. i have about 40% of debt paid off and trying to minimize my costs at the same time. Great channel and I look for more excellent advice in the future

We have a 20-acre off-grid homestead in the northeast corner of Arizona love your videos truly inspirational. Homesteading helps so much with my ADHD and anxiety I can actually have 20 tasks to do and complete them without a meltdown..

To hell with the government. Thanks for the tips. Looking at the end of summer for our Homestead. We've got a couple girls 8 and 2. I've gotta work a lot of hours and don't have a lot of time to spend working on the Homestead but I can spend MANY hours on YouTube in LEARNING while at work.

Land search and planning/research phase for me and my son up in Canada. Finding land we can afford in the correct zoning is the major problem. We plan on greenhouses, heritage Chanteclerc chickens (hardy to cold and dual purpose), rabbits and pigs. A donkey and/or a good draft horse to help with labor.
What I'm carefully planning though is a source of income because I want to quit my unstable job (electromechanic). Eyeing the essential oils business because I don't trust that I can pay my taxes with just the homestead. It's mostly for our clean food and heating. So I'm taking the planning very realistically because I want to minimize the chances of failing. I also want to stay debt free so one step at the time.

We are in the southeast corner of Tennessee right at the Georgia state line. We own 5.07 acres but it's mortgaged but we owe a lot less than we use to. I have a compact tractor, John Deere 1025 with a loader bucket, rotary mower, tiller and a box blade. The tractor will be paid for in the Spring. We are trying to get out of debt and then we want to live debt free. So far we're doing well. Even through my wife's cancer, the Lord saw us through and blessed us with His favor. She is now cancer free, AMEN.

I'm in AZ. Phx to be exact. I have been looking into homesteading for about a year. Im so interested. My wife told me last month she was gave. So I'm in the planning point. Hit q snag. I lost my 4 months ago. So I'm trying to plan and see what we are comfortable doing and able to do. Once I figure out another income source, we can plan the route we are gonna take. Thank you for the inspirational words. Good luck to you and if your this way one day. Maybe we will be somewhat on our feet and you can come by.
