Know Before You Go: Costa Rica Edition! 🇨🇷 🌴 (save)

💨 The Humidity is Intense 💧
The tropical climate is all about the heat and humidity! 🌡️😅 When you visit this breathtaking country, make sure to pack lightweight, breathable clothes that keep you cool and comfortable. Flowy dresses, loose shirts, shorts, and don't forget your trusty hat to shield yourself from the sun! 👒

💳 USD is Widely Accepted 💸
No need to worry about currency exchanges, as the United States dollar is widely accepted throughout Costa Rica! 💵💰Cards are accepted almost everywhere, but it's a smart move to keep cash handy for rural areas and tips. The local currency is colones FYI! 💴

🦜 Wildlife is Everywhere! 🐒
Welcome to the land of incredible biodiversity! 🌳🐍 During your visit, don't be surprised if you encounter sloths in the trees, colorful macaws flying overhead, or iguanas scurrying along the path. 🦥👀 The mosquitos like to BITE, so don't forget your spray.

🗣️ English is Widely Spoken 📚
Many locals speak English and are eager to help! 🤝🗣️ However, learning a few basic Spanish phrases can go a long way in immersing yourself in the culture. Simple greetings like "Hola" (hello), "Por favor" (please), and "Gracias" (thank you) will be greatly appreciated! 🇨🇷❤️

⛱️ Pura Vida is a Lifestyle 😌
In Costa Rica, the phrase "Pura Vida" (pure life) is more than just words; it's a way of life! 🌅✨ Get ready to embrace the country's laidback attitude and immerse yourself in the joy of simple pleasures.

I learned all of these things on my group trip to Costa Rica with @efultimatebreak! 🌞 Did anything surprise you?

If you pay in USD with cash every store will exchange your dollars to a rate convenient to them. If you pay with card, it will be your banks rate (usually lower).

Do not exchange money at the airport (worst rate) go to a bank and change there or get out of an ATM (avoid multiple times since there is a rate for using ATM outisde your country)

I think maybe you didn't get out much when you were in Costa Rica? You must have been immersed in the tourist traps. USD is most certainly not accepted "everywhere, " and tipping is not a "thing" here. I cannot say, after living in Costa Rica for several years, that your information is reliable.

Costa rica is not a single coast, is a whole country, you are talking only about the coast which is like saying Miami is the whole USA, so no, not everyone is going to take US dollars, only on touristy coastal zones.

I really hate how commercialized it has gotten. The late 90's early 2000's it was still pristine. I remember when Jaco had 1 hotel and nothing was more than 2 stories high
