Doberman's that served in war weren't nicknamed Devil Dog's for nothing. They are sweet as can be with their owners/family/friends, however their response to a threat to their space especially when those they love are involved is a site to behold. My Red Doberman was a sweetheart with family and friends however, he tolerated no inkling of a threat to his environment. I knew i had to protect him from himself because he was always so game. They are the most fearless and willing to defend dog I've met. The sounds and speed of attack that come out of them in a tussle are pretty terrifying. I never worried about my wife and daughters when he was at their side. I had no doubt he would put it all on the line to protect them from anything.

I own both. VERY agile doberman can win but its a slim chance. Doberman act like wolves biting and moving back, rotties are strong and if they want to kill- they crush bones and don't let go.
