Back Row POV on Flying Turns at Knoebels. Flying Turns is a type of roller coaster that was first introduced in the 1920s. It is characterized by a bobsled-like car that runs on a track with no rails, and is instead guided by a series of banked turns and twists. The ride took many years to perfect and open.

Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg, Pennsylvania is home to a popular Flying Turns roller coaster, which was designed to replicate the original ride from the 1920s. The coaster consists of two-person carts that slide and spin as they move along the track, providing riders with a thrilling and unique experience. The ride is known for its smooth and fast-paced movements, as well as its nostalgic design that harkens back to the early days of amusement park rides.

I love this ride, but fair warning to those watching the video, the action of the trains is dependent on the weight of the riders, so your experiences may be different than what you see in the video. but yes, like the guy says, this ride is awesome!

👍Are you grateful that Knoebels has given us a chance to experience this classic ride which debuted almost 95 years ago? I think it's a totally different experience from today's newer bobsled rides..

Knoebels is such an amazing amusement park. It is smaller than most but you can get tremendous value out of each visit. Amazing food, friendly people, and great rides all for a fraction of the price compared to most parks.

As a PA native, it makes me proud that Knoebels is still around...I haven't been there in half a century...

Flying Turns reminds me of the old Bobsled ride that was at Coney Island back in the 60's. That was the first roller coaster type ride that I went on. And at Kings Dominion I also went on the Avalanche Bobsled Roller Coaster. Thanks for taking us along on the ride. 👍👍👍👍.

I love how this coaster makes you think its slow and boring at first, then an explosion of excitement!

What a unique design. I'd love to see the engineering process behind it. Getting the train to safely derail, roll along some turns at speed, and back on the tracks is an impressive feat.

Love Flying Turns. I feel privileged to live close enough to visit Knoebels

Rode the Flying Turns at Riverview in Chicago in the Summer of 1967. In September of that year they announced it would close forever (open since 1904!) at the end of the season shortly thereafter. I was a big fan of watching bobsledding on TV so the Flying Turns looked a thrill ride I could handle 😀

I live across the street from a amusement park, I grew up riding the Cyclone in Coney Island and a day at Konobals was one of the funniest days ever. That ride feels just like a bob sled. Fantastic. Great park!

We went on this at Riverview Park way back in 1966. It felt dangerous and looking at this I can see why, though it was a complete blast. I wish I could get in a time machine and go back to ride this and the incredible Bobs coaster again. Why is it that so many great things never last?

One of the best rides! My late father in law worked at Knoebels and that was our highlight each year visiting was to ride the phoenix and flying turns with the kids.

Growing up in Cleveland we had Euclid Beach Amusement park (now closed) that had one of the original Flying Turns. It was and remains one of my all-time favorite rides.

This has got to be one of the best rides I've ever seen. A rollercoaster and bobsled rolled into one. Very cool!

We had the Flying Turns roller coaster at Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland, Ohio many years ago. I loved that ride. We also had The Racing Coastes that were moved to Cedar Point, Sandusky, OH

Those coaster cars seem pretty awesome. You seem snug and surrounded. What a cool coaster

How awesome! Now I know how the one Coney Island, Brooklyn, used to look and how it functioned! Sadly it was dismantled in 1974, too bad I was only 2 years old, I would’ve loved to ride that one!
