Survival isn’t just about skill—it’s about the environment you face. In this video, we dive into the most difficult environments to survive and what makes each one so brutal. Is it the endless, unforgiving expanse of the open ocean, the bone-chilling cold of the arctic, the thin air and harsh terrain of high alpine mountains, the scorching heat and dehydration risk in the desert, or the relentless challenges of the jungle with its predators and diseases?

I break down the unique dangers and obstacles of each environment, but I want to hear your thoughts. Which do you think is the hardest to survive in—and why? Drop your opinions and survival strategies in the comments below! Let’s see which environment reigns supreme in the survival challenge.

Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more survival discussions and tips!

I agree with you, the ocean, the middle of the arctic would be my second followed by the dessert.

The one time I got hypothermia on army exercise in Denmark learned me to respect the cold.. I just passed out in the snow without any real warning(You know its cold, you are supposed to freeze some..) My platoon leader slapped me in the face till I kind of woke up, put me in a warm jeep for the 30 minute drive to the infirmeri, when I arrived my core temp was only 35C, thats just about the limit where your organs starts to fail.. they put me in a hot shower and then a bed, served me lots of hot coffee, after 10 hours I was sent back to my unit to continue the exercise in the snow..
After that I understand the pictures of german soldiers at Stalingrad frozen solid still sitting at the ready behind their machinegun..

I think the toughest place to survive is anywhere that gets extremely cold. We as humans are tropical creatures and simply aren’t built for cold. There is a reason that the oldest cultures such as the San bushman and the aboriginals of Australia lived in arid environments. In desert and jungles you can run around half naked and be fine but not so in the cold. Also in deserts/jungles if you have a water source you just sit in the shade and move in the cooler parts of the day but in the cold you literally have to stay moving in order to stay alive. There is no time to rest because every second is spent trying to stay alive. I once watched an interview with the famed Cody Lundin and he said the reason he moved from his home state of Wyoming to Arizona was because of winter. I think that says something. That’s just my opinion

If it's too hot, I'm dead. If it's too cold, I'm dead. I think I'd stand a better chance in the cold though. Heat didn't bother me when I was younger. But now, I can hardly stand to walk out the door when it gets over 80 degrees.

Been in all the climates and have suffered most of the bad effects. The Artic far from the tree line will kill you fast without the proper skills and gear. Freezing not the most painful but very swift. Being lunch for a polar bear I am sure would be most unpleasant.

The ocean. Read about the survivors from the U.S.S. Indianapolis. The coldest; Minnesota in the mid 1970's -40 temps/-64 windchill. Guys on the radio were warning not to go out. The plow came past our driveway, filling it with snow. My Dad sent me out in a parka to shovel it before it froze solid. I could only see out of the 6" diameter parka hood. I felt like I was on the moon in the white out and high winds. Survive? It would be snow cave time.

Definitely the middle of the ocean, in my opinion. Just the thought of being on one of those inflatable life rafts and nothing around you but the ocean in all her frighting glory!

Just me personally, I can't do heat. So I'd just curl up and die in the desert.

I am from the adirondaks and am just amazed at how people ever were able to make it possible to inhabit the mountains back in the day.

Wim Hof would probably disagree about Everest. Wonder what his answer would be.

I always wondered if you think it would be beneficial to become nocturnal when you’re facing extreme hot or extreme cold temperatures. This way, if you’re an extreme hot area, you can rest and relax during the daytime with the heat is that a Tice and you’d be in danger and move around at night when the heat is less. Or in an extreme cold weather situation, you could move around at night because the cold would kill you and moving around would keep you warm, and you can rest and relax in the day when you’re More easily able to handle those temperatures.

I lived close to the Arctic Circle in Alaska for 7 years and it’s my favorite place I’ve ever been but it can be a nasty place to survive especially in the winter.

I went through jungle training in Panama when I was in the ARMY. The jungle there has some of the most most dangerous plants insects and animals that will kill you or make you wish you were dead. Not to mention the heat and humidity. There's a spider there the size of a dinner plate. These spiders build their webs in the tree tops to catch birds. I was so glad to to be done with that place.
