The Latest News From Bali & Indonesia /September 12, 2022/Jokowi Orders Immigration Changes/ Bali To Make Special Lanes For Electric Motorcycles

President Jokowi is unhappy with the way that immigration is working these days. He wants to see major changes made now or he will institute major changes to the department starting at the top. Plans are apparently being made to create special traffic lanes for electric motorcycles in tourist areas around Bali. And changes continue to be made on the island due to the approaching G20 Summit in two months.

The number of new Covid cases continues to move downwards as does the positivity rate. Keep on smiling. Stay safe, be kind to someone today, and thanks for viewing.

Reciprocal visa status seems like a fair call. My experience of Indonesian visas is that as soon as you think you know what's going on, you don't. Cheers from Tuban.

Thank you again Bruce….your efforts are appreciated…the visa system can be a problem and there is plenty of room for improvement…online applications for VOA as well as payment Will speed up the process….free VOA for short term visit would be very popular….the president is concerned re Kitas visas and rightly so….the process and the
paperwork can be overwhelming and the use of an Agent is needed at this stage…agents are able to charge as much as they want and the whole system needs refining and updating …i have used the Renon office of immigration for many years (very busy/very crowded)…in the past 3 years i have used the local office in ….i have been the owner of an electric bicycle for the past 8 years….locally built in costs can be quite high (Denpasar)…id love to see how they would Find space for a dedicated lane in the tourist areas….eg Ubud….perhaps the charging stations can be set up in the dimly lit cafes 😂😂😂😂😂….stay safe 👍

I'm on a Kitap, and have always found immigration in Renon, Denpasar to be transparent, helpful and pleasant to deal with. Definitely could improve some of the laws though, which is actually Parliament's job.

Thanks Bruce for today's info.
What I meant the other day was to send the Passport and fill in my data and information to the Indonesian Embassy in Stockholm like I did in 2015 to get a Tourist visa for 2 months. I looked up on their site later that it was no longer possible.
This trip to Bali at the end of October will only be 26 days, if I get my passport in time that is.
If I had my Passport now and didn't need to reBook until October 25, I would have started my trip today.
😒
Stay safe and take good care.

Hi Bruce getting a tourist visa is more confusing now than before Covid. I used to apply for a 60 day visa from Indonesia Consulate Melbourne. I’d download the application fill it in and take all required info into their office & pick up my passport with visa endorsement. No drama

However, now a visa application is not an option on the Consulate website. Instead I’m diverted to a website to apply for a B211a visa which complicates the visa acquisition process as I now need a sponsor. On top of this you are saying the VOA 60 visa can be obtained at Ngurah Rai & other info (forget where) says that one can no longer get the 60 day tourist visa at the airport & one needs to attend an Imigrasi office together with your sponsor or get an agent before 30 days runs out.

I hope the President sorts it out. If Indonesia want the tourist dollar it has to simplify the process. Cheers K..

Got to agree with you on the VOA - it needs a retool, especially if there’s reciprocal access between ASEAN countries. Multiple entries needs to be factored in to help drive business and entrepreneurial investment; it’s just too bothersome and a bit expensive to go through all that process every time you need to see a client in Singapore, for example.

The charging of batteries is interesting - we had a prototype system here where inductive charging extends the existing charge. It’s unlikely you’d charge enough to offset the usage (at least, initially) but it could mean a smaller battery can go much farther now if it’s getting a 25-50% top up as it drives. That means smaller, lighter and less expensive cars! Interesting!

Also, for those new to batteries, Lithium Iron Phosphate is the new car chemistry, which does not have thermal runaways (read: “fire”). The brands that have had these are typically from a single Korean manufacturer who’s had problems with manufacturing, and those defect are the cause. There’s a magnitude fewer fires in EVs vs Petrol/Diesel, so ignore the scaremongers. ;)

Be safe out there! Hope you feel better!

G20 and prostitution, you don't have to look far and you see all new foreigner imported girls and their out their advertising it in your face. Maybe that's where they need to start rather than on the locals. Great to here reciprocal visas . Might bite them in the pants like that bug, as an indo going into nz or aussi could be up for 1 to 3 mill ++. But whole hardly support that. No discrimination. Keep up the good work.

VOA should go back on the airline ticket price as it was pre Covid thanks for keeping us up to date Bruce and stay safe

Good to hear that Jokowi is looking at transparency in the visa requirements as it has been far from transparent to date and like OZ countries are now dependent on foreigners to assist in their economies. Thanks Bruce
