The first time my mom had turkey was for thanksgiving in America because they really don’t eat turkey much in Japan besides at amusement parks and stuff. One reason I heard is because they are too big for Japanese ovens. She’ll eat turkey every year for thanksgiving but she doesn’t like that much

I remember one thanksgiving at my grandma’s house instead of turkey we had 3 roasted chickens. Way better than forcing myself to eat turkey.

Now I know that if you want good turkey you gotta start prep like a few days before the turkey enters the oven.

Turkey is basically like every other white meat poultry, very good but very easy to overcook and screw up. Probably the most foolproof way is to dry brine overnight with salt, spatchcock (remove the spine and put the bird flattened in a tray), and season by putting herb butter underneath the skin.

it doesn't have to be Turkey for Thanksgiving. The point of it is spending time with or thinking about friends, family, and loved ones, and being appreciative hahaha... 😅 Xmas is similar, but in Japan, it's just another dating holiday... am I wrong? 🤔

I've had turkey a few times the turkey legs in Disney are amazing and filling, and it's sometimes used in some traditional Mexican dishes but the roasted turkey is a whole other beast. A well prepped one is delicious, hope I get the chance one day of having the whole feast experience
