I live in Plymouth Michigan. The original factory was demolished to make way for a condo development but the developer left one wall of the factory in commemoration of the old factory and its' place in Americana. Before it was torn down the old factory had been turned into office space for several local businesses. My sister worked in one of those offices when she just out of college. The original wood floors were still in the building and were imbedded with thousands of BBs from employees test firing BB guns after they were completed.

Brought back memories. I remember as a kid I wanted a Daisy BB gun that was in the local hardware store window. It was $10. I spent most of the summer vacation riding my bicycle around the country roads where I lived. looking for and collecting pop bottles that I saw in ditches. I turned them in to a local store for the few pennies deposits. Eventually collecting enough to save the $10 I needed. I was so excited I jumped on my bike one Saturday evening and headed to the hardware store before it closed. I ran inside with my money as the owner was closing up. He wouldn’t give me the rifle because I didn’t have a note from my mother. Ha!!! I was so disappointed and I had to wait until Monday to go get it. But I got my BB gun! 😁👍

I feel like I'm probably the youngest guy here being born in mid 2000, but even so the legacy of Daisy continues! My grandpa had a red ryder that he used to pop grasshoppers and green iguanas (a pest here in FL), and I definitely got to help with that. Found out they still make red ryders and sell them at Walmart even, I think this year for Christmas I'll treat myself to an American classic (even if it's made in China lol). And no, I won't shoot my eye out :)

A Brit here. My dad lived in the States for around a decade or so during the mid-80s, and he bought me and my brother a Red Ryder. Pictures of me as a 6 year old firing it like a bazooka. Since then he lived around the world before passing a few years ago. Going through his stuff, we found old Red in its original box. Holding / looking at it brings back such wonderful memories.

When I was a kid, after I graduated from learning safe gun handling. I was given a Red Ryder BB gun. After I learned even more safe handling I got a Stevens .22 and later a .22/ 410. Dad set up a special range in the Basement I would shoot with him on it. After a while he let me shoot there a lone. I got to where I could shoot match heads but Dad could light the kitchen matches!

I was a nightmare with a BB gun in the early 70s :) many street lights stoped working for a bit before it was taken away from me :) Loved the video Rhetty

I had four brothers, and I know they had BB guns, but Daisies I wouldn't know. I just know The Christmas Story is my favorite. I am 74 years old, and still try, and watch it every year. Me being the only girl for years, I was a tom boy until my teens, and received a Zorro watch from one of my Dad's friends for for Christmas, at ten years old, proud as a peacock, I was. LOL Thanks for the memories Rhetty

I got my first BB Gun in the late 60s. A Daisy model 99 Champion. My next BB guns were Crossman's. Crossman makes a great gun. Need to review them.

Bought my Daisy BB gun in 1971. I loved my rifle and spent every day carrying it and shooting it, imagining I was the "Rifle Man." Still have fond memories and I never " shot my or anyone else's eye out."

This brings back memories, I guess that I was probably about Ralphie's age when I got my first bb gun. I got mine as a birthday present. I still watch that movie every time I find it on around Christmas time.

One of your best videos to date. Our place, like many of my relatives' places, had firearms leaning by doors in the houses, shops, barns and such for protecting the livestock and coops from predators. Did have a Daisy when I was very young. Ma's in her 90s, somehow came belong to her over the years. Really enjoyed watching this one.

I never had a red Ryder model, mine was a plastic stock model with no forearm, but she was a Daisey. My brothers and I were fortunate enough to grow up in a time and location as to soon graduate up to rifles and shotguns, but there will always be a place in my heart for Daisey.
Did you know however the history of the air rifle goes back a long way. Lewis and Clark carried some on their expedition of the Louisiana Purchase?

LOL, I remember my BB gun and my mom telling me to make sure not to shoot anyone in the eye. :-) I can't believe they are still being sold. Wow, I would have thought they were banned decades ago. Great history, Rhetty! I didn't know any of that story.

Good video, thanks for posting !
Got my first Daisy for 8th birthday, aside from a 4 year stretch (got “misplaced” while moving), have had 1 or more ever since (65 now).
Still shoot on an almost daily basis…guess everyone needs a hobby…if someone took a metal detector into our woods behind the house, it would probably blow up !
Despite the Chinese manufacturing, and plastic parts, these are still fantastic little guns, and for a lot of good reasons…inexpensive, durable, good for teaching “newbies” or getting in trigger time for experienced shooters…whether a serious collector, a tinkerer, or just someone who enjoys flinging bb’s at cans, there really is something for everyone !

Nothing but fond memories of the Daisy bb guns. I remember back in the 60's my first BB gun was a Daisy Wildcat. First thing you learn about a lever-action is never push the lever down and pull the trigger while it is down. It will snap shut on your fingers. I also remember that at the end of the barrel you twisted the cap to open a hole to put BB's in. I was shown by older kids that the best way to load the BB's without spilling them was to open the plastic pack and pour them in your mouth. Then you would put your mouth over the filler hole and spit them in the barrel. Worked great. Saliva possibly didn't help the rifle any, not the mention the oil from the BB's we ingested. God looks after kids.

You’ll shoot you eye out you’ll shoot your eye out or an icicle will fall on you eye. Love that flick.
