i met Jack back in 2008, and he's just as nice in person as he seems on TV. he's a little awkward around strangers, but that's probably because he doesn't want to say anything that hurts your feelings or offends you. we got to talk for almost 10 minutes, though, and he gave me advice about writing songs:

"if you can't think of a good true story to tell, there's nothing wrong with making one up. something you daydream about, or something you wish were true in real life."

it completely changed my outlook on songwriting :)

i didn't have my ukulele with me, but he promised if i mailed it to him and included return postage and a box, he'd sign it and send it back. and he actually DID XD

it took awhile, but he kept his promise. he even autographed it on the back because, as he said in his letter, "i didn't want to mess up the front of the uke with my signature". what a guy, lol.

Jack may not be the world's biggest rock star, may not be the most famous or most popular, or even the most loved. he's nowhere near the league of David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Metallica, etc....but to me, he'll always be #1.

Jack Johnson is one of those artists for me whos music will not age. I can't remember the last time I sat and purposefully spent time just dedicated to listening to his music. And I still know almost all the tracks word for word. Beautiful music!
