I personally do not think this is far fetched. I hope I am wrong. But my gut suggests China is waiting for the USA involvement with NATO to deplete it's weapon stock. Also timing is important, if USA over commits by deploying to many assests to NATO would leave a response to a Taiwan attack as being 'to little to late'.

The ppl in Taiwan fled from mainland China which once were the rulers of the entire China but the Chinese who were known as the Nationalist lost the civil war to the communist which therefore fled to the Island so called or known as Taiwan. If the island didn’t belong to China which is now communist ruled.. how on earth did those Nationalist Chinese managed to have fled to the island?! Nationalist Chinese now consider themselves as Taiwanese but yet they are Chinese origin. All originated from China which makes them Chinese.
