Another reasons is given in sunderkhand. When ravan abduct maa sita and went after her to lure her with all the gold and money and even giving her place above mandodari. Sita ma replied and it is written in sholka "Tran dhari oot kahat bedhai, sumeri awadhpati param snaehi". Ravan could not get pass the satitve hold by ma sita even it was just a piece of grass. This is how much satitva ma sita hold.
Another instance about maa sita's devotion towards bhagava Ram was when hanuman ji drops the "Mudrika" in front of Maa Sita to show that he is ram dut. Maa sita said.'Jiti ko sakia ajaya raghurai, Maya se ati rachi nahi jai' this is how confident she was on Bhagvan ram that no one in world can defeat him not because he is great warrior but because of her satitva supporting him.

There is one more narrative which states that when asked about this Ravana replied, " when I get close to Sita I am unable to force myself on her because I feel I have become Rama". So strong is the devotion of Sita towards Rama, that her aura has Rama's vibes that momentarily anyone coming close to her experience Ram and become one !

There is another story which depicted Sita as a daughter of Ravana and Mandodari. But due to some reason that I forgot, Mandodari buried Sita and delivered her to Bhudevi. Bhudevi carried her around and one day when King Janak was engaged in the field, his plough struck a clay pot and a skull where he found 2 babies. The baby from the pot was named Sita and the baby from the skull was named Narakasura (Nar = man, Ak = skull).

I read this story in a local magazine. I am from Assam where Narakasura ruled once upon a time.

Edit: The above mentioned story also discussed the Nalakubera story that you talked about. But additionally emphasises that there were multiple reasons why even with kaam vasna Ravana was unable to touch Devi Sita.

Anyways, Ravana never wanted to kidnap Sita for beauty, he kidnapped her for revenge of what Ram and Lakshmana did to Surpanakha (his sister).
