I learn something every day . . . I remember Nat King Cole singing "from Chicago to LA" so I checked wikipedia. Well, surprise, surprise! Springfiled Missouri was where Route 66 was officially named in a big ceremony so Trump's speech writer simplified that to "where Route 66 started" - most people know it "starts" in Chicago. Another surprise, it goes through LA and officially "ends" in Santa Monica.
