i misa this fucking band. i remember when i first saw them in 07 at warped tour i was 17. time fucking flies. i got all of their autographs. their music speaks to me. i dont judge what tim did i am not god. i hope he gets put and reccognizes what he did was aweful and i hope he returns to what he was gifted to do.

The irony is, although Lambesis is no longer a Christian and he's writing these lyrics from a philosophical perspective, you can read them from either an Atheist-becoming-a-Christian point of view, or a Christian-becoming-an-Atheist one. That's what we call good songwriting.

My first ever As I Lay Dying song, oh man time flies... I remember listening to this song back in early 2013 when I joined the academy.
Who knew that after this album everything went down to hill with the whole Tim's controversy but years later AILD came back stronger and better than ever.
Shaped By Fire will be an instant metalcore hit, that's for sure.

I think Awakened is probably my favorite album from them. The lyrics are much more dark and personal, you could tell Tim was struggling with his demons, and as a result he penned some of the most relate-able lyrics of their career.
