As a former Home Depot employee, thank you for this.

As a spirited woman herself who works in a hardware store in the Netherlands, I too suffer. For 38h a week, 140 colleagues, including myself have to endure the pop radio channel that is always on. Repeating songs that should not be popular, all day, everyday. Thank you Van for noticing. It means so much to me to see it’s not just the people who work in these stores who suffer. Sharing the suffering most definitely helps a little bit.

Worked the stock room at an independent Department Store as a kid. Muzak Christmas music from November until New Years, mind numbing. This Spirited man was also a spirited kid, climbed the racks and pulled the wiring from all offending speakers. Couldn't help the poor souls on the floor, but was a hero to everyone in back.

The music of ringing hand tools, the music of the quiet murmer of the knowledgeable sharing their expertise, the music of the hyster chiming its warnings, the music of commerce ringing itself up. The store is singing, but we can't here it over nickelback

As a Home Depot customer I absolutely agree. Silence or classical music would make my store browsing, problem solving, solution creating, material calculating so much more pleasant. This goes double for Menards. Triple for Walmart. It often feels like an intentional assault on the senses to disorient the customer and convince them to buy what they don't need.

This is rich, I go into a home depot 3 times a week and i’ve always thought it was weird that i was the only person with my noise cancleing headphones on. It’s like being in a mall at times

I worked at Ace hardware for a while and they had the same playlist of about 50 songs that just looped constantly. Hey There Delilah is seared into my memory like some form of psyops torture that triggers negative thoughts every time I hear it.

Another episode of Van's mortgage payment. I'll happily watch it while wearing my spirited man hoodie and have my ad blocker turned off.

My Home Depot plays 90s Country. Brooks and Dunn; ride, rope, hammer and paint kinda stuff. I dig it. Must be a Florida thing.

I would love to walk into The Home Depot and just hear Beethoven's 5 rocking out.

Oh my God I’m crying! That was hilarious and yet so true. Home Depot, it’s not us…it’s you. Do the right thing!

In all the times I have been in Home Depot I never really noticed the music. Now I won’t be able to unhear it.

Used to work at a thrift store with a similar play list. Sometimes suicide seemed the only way out...but then I realized I could quit.
